Eindhoven Airport

Eindhoven Airport is a regional airport located approximately 7 km (4.5 miles) west of Eindhoven. It is the second largest airport in the Netherlands in terms of traffic and is host to both military and civilian aircraft. The majority of civilian aircraft that make use of this airport are either chartered flights or budget airlines taking advantage of the cheaper rates.

If you are planning to travel the southern regions of the Netherlands, Eindhoven Airport is a good entry point due to its location. On the other hand, the Netherlands is rather small so travel time saved in this way is only a couple of hours at most - but you'll have the advantage of a cheaper flight and the convenience of a smaller airport that doesn't operate at maximum capacity.

Parking

Parking at Eindhoven Airport is divided in to four sections, which are confusingly named: P1, P3, P4 and P5. As with most airports, the parking area that you will want to use will depend upon how long you are planning to park at the airport for.

P1 is meant for visitors to Eindhoven Airport who are intending on parking for only a short amount of time. It has the most expensive hourly and daily rates. P2 on the other hand is meant for travellers to Eindhoven Airport that need parking for longer terms.

P4 and P5 are both designated as long term parking with discounted rates. Both P4 and P5 have exactly the same rates so it does not matter which of the two you park in. Depending upon how long you are parking, these long term parking discount areas are anything between 25% and 50% cheaper than parking in the P2 area (the normal rate long term parking area).

Getting There With Public Transport

The only real option to get to and from Eindhoven Airport with public transport is by the bus. The number 401 bus will take you between Eindhoven Airport and Eindhoven CS (railway station) which is located in the middle of Eindhoven city. The buses depart every 10 mins, so you shouldn't have long to wait.

The time table from Eindhoven CS to Eindhoven Airport can be found here, while the service time from Eindhoven Airport to Eindhoven CS can be seen here.

Shopping & Eating

The only real shop at the airport is the Shop & Fly store. It is located in the departure lounge, meaning it is after security control. They sell all the general items you'd expect to find at an airport store including perfumes, tobacco, souveniers and a small range of luxury goods.

In the departure hall are two small shops. AKO will satisfy most of your in-flight reading interests, offering a reasonable selection of books, newspapers and magazines. Aviflora, located in the same area, has a variety of items that are perfect for meeting travellers, such as balloons and flowers.

Hungry travellers can stop by the Belvedair Restaurant, which is divided in to three sections. Located in the departure hall is the snack bar wing of the restaurant which is perfect for small fast snacks and drinks. On the first floor both the 'medium' and 'large' wings of the restaurant are located. The medium section is the cafe part of the restaurant. The viewing deck of the airport is located next to this sitting area. If you are interested in a full meal, then you'll want to head to the large section which offers a full restaurant service.
