Rotterdam Airport

Rotterdam Airport (RTM) is located 5.6km to the northwest of Rotterdam. Rotterdam Airport is the third largest airport in the Netherlands. The majority of flights to Rotterdam Airport are from budget airlines taking advantage of Rotterdam Airport being significantly cheaper to operate out of than Schiphol and business travellers that are travelling directly to Rotterdam.

Parking

The fee to park your car at Rotterdam Airport is rather reasonable as expected, especially when compared to the rate at Schiphol for example. The parking areas are also not as large and are all near the terminal building meaning the distance is easily covered, even with luggage. Unlike Schiphol, you cannot reserve a parking spot online, but the low demand for parking spaces means this should never been an issue.

Parking at Rotterdam Airport is made up of three areas: P1 (long term), P2 (short term) and P3 (long term).

There are two options for payment for parking. The first is with credit card. When you drive in and when you drive out, you insert your credit card and you are done. The second is receiving a ticket upon entry. Before you return to your car to leave you will need to visit one of the payment machines. Cash, pin-passes and credit cards are accepted here.

Getting There With Public Transport

The only way to get to Rotterdam Airport by public transport is with the bus. The RET bus line offer a number of different services to the airport - including a service that will get you in to the city if you arrive on the last flight of the night and also to the airport on time if you are catching the first flight of the day out.

The Nightnet bus B12 departs for the airport from bus stop DD at Rotterdam Central Station (railyway station). The bus journey takes just 15 minutes. Passengers arrive in plenty of time for the first flight of the day.

Iindividual tickets can be purchased from the bus driver for €2.70 per ticket, one way.

Shopping & Eating

The shopping possibilities are rather limited at the airport. The Rotterdam Airport Shop, which is conveniently located in the departure hall, sells many of the basics that you might need for your travels and also a reasonable selection of the more typical pricey items for sale at airports such as cosmetics, perfumes, jewellery, clothing and similiar high end luxury items. In the transit hall is an AKO Shop where you can purchase books, magazines, telephone cards, tickets for public transport, postcards and the like.

Rotterdam Airport has just two eateries for hungry travellers and visitors to the airport.

Located in the departure hall, the self service restaurant De Basseri offers a very varied assortment of refreshments to passengers who have already passed through security control. The café Horizon, situated on the first floor of the central hall of the terminal building, is accessible by all visitors to the airport.
