Schiermonnikoog: island, municipality and national park; located in the north of the Netherlands. It is a place of unspoilt natural beauty that has achieved a wonderful balance of being both accessible and catering to tourists while not letting that ruin the experience. It is one of the only places in the Netherlands that you can feel some what remote from the over development of the rest of the country and immerse yourself in the few remaining vestiges of Dutch nature.
